Our recent study highlighted that 1.5-hour driving lessons are widely seen as the sweet spot for effective learning. Learners told us this duration gives them enough time to make steady progress and practise essential skills, while still being short enough to maintain concentration without feeling tired or overloaded.
Yes, your instructor will pick you up from your home and drop you back. Any other pick ups and drop offs need to be pre arranged and agreed with your instructor.
You can call the office on 01323 647078 to get booked in, you will be asked a few questions and a payment will be required to secure your first booking.
You can buy as many hours as you would like. A minimum of 5 lessons (7.5 hours) is required to qualify for the bulk purchase discount.
You can book your theory test once you have a provisional licence but remember to make sure you prepare yourself by using our FREE online training programme Theory Test Pro. Once you have passed your theory test it is valid for 2 years, you will need to pass your practical test in that time or resit your theory.

Your instructor will help you decide when you are ready to book a practical test. Remember you will need to have passed the theory test before you can book a practical test.
The amount of lessons you will need is an individual figure, we aim to get you test ready at your pace so you are fully prepared for the practical test.
As a guide – The DVSA recommends around 45 hours of professional driving lessons and a further 22 hours of private practice to learn to drive. Learners who prepare in this way have a higher test pass rate and are safer on our roads.
No we don’t, Begin Driving instructors work on a one-to-one basis, so you will not have to share your time with other students.
Theory test – Price for a theory test is £23.00 (March 2022).
