Why Learning with a PDI Can Be a Great Choice

Top box edited Begin Driving

If you’re looking for driving lessons, you may have come across the terms PDI and ADI and wondered what the difference is.

At Begin Driving, we’re proud to be an Instructor Training School, so we thought we’d explain exactly what they mean.

What is a PDI?

A PDI (Potential Driving Instructor) is someone who is training to become a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

They have already passed the required stages of the qualification process and are legally able to give driving lessons while continuing their training. Every fully qualified ADI started their journey as a PDI.

Are PDIs Safe?

Absolutely.

A PDI can only teach once they have met the DVSA requirements to do so. At Begin Driving, our PDIs are also supported throughout their training, ensuring they continue to develop their teaching skills while providing safe, professional driving lessons.

Many learners enjoy being taught by a PDI because they are enthusiastic, up to date with modern coaching techniques and receive ongoing mentoring.

Why Choose Begin Driving?

Begin Driving isn’t just a driving school – we’re also passionate about developing the next generation of driving instructors.

Over the years, we’ve trained many instructors who now teach across Eastbourne and the surrounding areas. Some have gone on to build successful careers and even start their own driving schools. Seeing our trainees succeed is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Our experience in training instructors means we know exactly what great driving tuition looks like, whether you’re learning with one of our experienced ADIs or one of our carefully supported PDIs.

Our Promise

We believe that quality instruction comes from quality training.

Whether you choose one of our fully qualified ADIs or one of our PDIs, you can be confident you’ll receive patient, professional tuition focused on helping you become a safe, confident driver for life.
