The new Sweet Spot for effective driver learning

At Begin Driving, we’re always reviewing how we can offer the most effective and enjoyable learning experience. After gathering feedback from both our pupils and their parents, we’re making a positive change: All standard driving lessons will now be 1.5 hours instead of 2 hours.

Why the change? What learners told us

We recently conducted our own survey to understand how our learners feel about lesson duration. The results were clear:

• 1.5 hours is widely viewed as the “sweet spot” for effective driver learning.
It’s long enough for steady progress, with enough time to practise key skills.
It’s short enough to maintain focus and avoid the fatigue that can creep in during longer sessions.
Pupils report feeling more confident and less overwhelmed with a 1.5-hour structure.

Your feedback played a big role in shaping this decision.

Better lessons, better learning experience

Switching to 1.5-hour lessons isn’t just about shortening the time – it’s about improving the quality of every minute behind the wheel.

A more focused session helps learners stay engaged, retain information better, and finish the lesson feeling confident rather than tired.

The price for a 1.5 hour lesson will be £68.00

Learners still receive a comprehensive, structured session – but at a lower cost overall, and without paying for time when concentration naturally begins to dip.

What this means for you

All new bookings will now be delivered in 1.5-hour sessions. You’ll still receive the same high-quality coaching Begin Driving is known for – simply in a format that better matches how most learners prefer to learn.

At Begin Driving, our goal is to provide the best learning journey possible. This change is one more step toward helping our pupils become safe, confident drivers in the most effective and enjoyable way.
